Cercetare: Transational Justice and Memory in Post-Dictatorial Societies. Romania in Global Perspective

TRANSNATIONAL JUSTICE AND MEMORY IN POST-DICTATORIAL SOCIETIES. ROMANIA IN GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

This two-year project analyses Romania’s transitional justice (TJ) processes since 1989 in global perspective. It develops a socio-historical analysis of the circulation of ideas, norms, and practices of dealing with the past between Romania and other national, regional or international settings. Romania is examined here as a recipient of transnational/global TJ trends, as well as a propagator of TJ ideas and practices to other national settings. By looking at these transnational “imports” and “exports” we interrogate relations of power in the regional and global arenas and way they produce and spread particular narratives on political violence.
